About Us: Who We Are
Our church can be hard to find, but genuine heritage is worth the search.
If you aren’t looking for St. Paul Lutheran Church, you may have a hard time finding us. Tucked away in a established neighborhood just off Lake and University, up the hill from University Avenue and to the right, Peoria’s hidden gem is the oldest Lutheran church in Peoria. Born in the early 1800's on First Street and Goodwin in what is now downtown Peoria, St. Paul has moved and grown since those days. Once a German-speaking congregation for German immigrants, St. Paul has grown to welcome people of all shapes and sizes!
Our current building, built in the 1960's, is set on 11 acres of wooded grounds in the heart of Peoria. Our worship services on Sunday boasts something "for everyone." With an early service utilizing our pipe organ with traditional Lutheran liturgy and a late service with a contemporary praise band, our worship services are different and diverse. Coupled with a desire to share God's good news with the world through word and deed, St. Paul is a thriving congregation eager to lend our hands to God's work.
